In such beguiling times we live in.

The truth unfold, the truth be told.
The mind deceives, action perceived.
Realization, foolishness its antecedence
And, Deception its precedence.

Whither sincerity, whither honesty
Why deceive, what does it achieve?
Emotions tangled, feelings mangled
Never again, never again.

The Light

In the dark wilderness, I search for you,
Through the thickest of vines,
I called for your name, seeking your presence,
My feet bloodied from the punishing ground.

The light that I held so dear
Once burned so brightly for me to see
So that the path down the woods is clear
While giving me warmth through the coldest of nights.

But alas, for the light that burns so brightly
Cannot sustain its own fire infinitely
So, slowly the darkness gathers strength, the path no longer clear
And I am left with the light's memories that I hold dear.

Hence, I would tell you, if you so desire,
That the fire of love may burn brightly
But the metal that is stoked in its fire
Brands one's soul painfully and deeply.
